Fisheries Workshop

September 16, 2023 - September 17, 2023

LICA is offering a Fisheries Workshop in partnership with School of Fish. This workshop is limited to fifteen attendees, and there are only a few spots left!!

This workshop will take place over the course of two days:

Saturday, September 16th, 2023, from 1 – 4:30 pm, at the LICA office and Sunday, September 17th, 2023, from 9 am – 3 pm at Moose Lake.

In the implementation of the Beaver River Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP), an increase in fish and fish habitat knowledge and information was identified as a priority. This fisheries workshop will teach participants about our local fisheries by providing both an in-class and outdoor experience. On Saturday, preserved fish and photos will be used to teach participants, at the LICA office, key morphological features to help identify the fishes. On Sunday, a field day will solidify the identification techniques learnt, by providing participants the opportunity to handle live fish while discussing appropriate fish habitats.

LICA is excited to offer this two-day workshop as it provides a unique opportunity to learn about our local fisheries. It also allows interested attendees to experience fish identification and habitat with a hands-on approach, spending a day at the Lake!

Due to limited space at this workshop, registration is required. If you would like to participate in this event, please email lica2@lica.ca, to save your spot! There is no cost to attend this workshop.

Alternatively, you may call the LICA office at 780-812-2182. Please RSVP no later than September 12, 2023. Contact LICA for more information!

Lunch will be included on Sunday, September 17th. If you have any dietary restrictions, please advise upon registration.
